Cowboys Lullabye

(Anderson Maples)
April 25, 2010
I wrote this song around 1980 when I was singing with Gene Taylor in Knoxville, TN.
Coyote is singing a song he wrote for the moon
The wind is harmonizing as she joins in the tune
The fire starts to din, stars looked down from the sky
All of life is singing the cowboy lullabye

Hard work is simple and the simple life ain't bad
Laughin' when I'm happy, cryin' when I'm sad
Ridin' hard while I'm able till life passes me by
It's just another verse in the cowboys lullabye

(Chorus)
Ridin' down through the canyon
Campin' down by the stream
The cowboys call it heaven but to me it's just a dream

A mustang is running through a young boy's dream
Saddles, guns and ropes and dusty old blue jeans
The night starts to fade but the dream will never guy
A young boy listens to the cowboy lullabye

(Chorus)

(Repeat 1st verse)
