MaplesLeaf Newsletter Summer 2010

Dear Friends in Christ,

On April 21st, I hade the opportunity to attend the Dove Awards in Nashville, TN. It was a great experience being with all these people who feel about songwriting and Christian music the way that I do. A man named Eddie say next to me and he turned out to be a sort of historical expert on the Dove Awards. He had not missed one in many years and had many stories to tell. He was almost more entertaining than the performers.

The next day, on the 22nd, I drove over to Grace Chapel in Franklin, TN to attend a day long conference hosted by Song Discovery called “Songwriters in the Round.” It was a wonderful event. Many of the writers and performer from the Dove Awards were there. It was a special treat to spend time with folks like Kim Hill, Paul Baloche, and many others. It was well worth the trip

Now I am back at getting ready to conclude the retreat season. This past weekend, I took part in leading the Community Bible Men’s Retreat from Marietta, PA. It was 21st retreat with this group. We still have May 21-23rd open if you know of a church group looking for a weekend getaway.

When I read the summer camp staff posts on Facebook, I realize that they are as excited for camp to start as I am. The summer camp program is just around the corner. I have been working diligently on the curriculum that we will use for our Cabin Bible Studies, and also on staff dramas that we will use in the evening sessions. The Theme is “Far Out: Exploring the Wonders of God.”

The Curriculum will be based on the acrostic S.P.A.C.E.; which stand for 1. The Sovereignty of God, 2. The Providence of God, 3. The Attributes of God. 4. The Creator God, and 5. The Everlasting God. It has been a challenging study for me to prepare for but I have learned a great deal and look forward passing on these wonderful truths about God to our staff and campers. Keep us in your prayers this summer as we try to impress upon the campers the need for them to have a vibrant relationship with the Lord.

I still have a lot of things to do to finalize preparations for the summer camp program. I am looking forward to working with the staff this summer. The Main Camp counselors under my care are Hannah Heins, Rebekah Rush, Sarah Zubrowski, JaNel Humbertson, Jordyn Grimm, Jeremy Lowther, Steve Zubrowski, Joey Tecino, Benjamin Kroll, and Jesse Opel. Please pray for these folks who have given up their summers to take part in the ministry of New Life Bible Camp.

The Lord has consistently proven Himself faithful to me and to New Life Bible Camp in this span of time. I deeply appreciate the financial support that many of you give me, and also am blessed by the prayer support that the Lord has raised all around me for the camping ministry.

Blessings,
Andy Maples
